HOME AWAY FROM HOME | CHANGING YOUR PERSPECTIVE

Home Away From Home is a 16-page illustrated story and guided resource for young Indigenous students and their families to ‘ready’ them for the transition into boarding and mainstream education away from Community and family.

Have you ever thought about what it would be like to be away from your home, community and family for 270 nights of the year?

HAFH highlights the first-hand experience that is required for a successful transition that evolved from the notion of preparing today to be better tomorrow. The journey allows the wider community to understand the environment, themes and provides guidance that is necessary to develop strong future leaders while living rewarding, positive, impactful and fulfilling lives.

The publication creates positive and purposeful conversations as well as identifying key transitional themes to successfully navigate the emotional rollercoaster of change, support, new beginnings and belonging.

Regardless of your age, experience or journey context- we all share the commonality of transitional themes that allows us to be happy and successful.

After all, perspective is only achieved through one’s understanding and knowledge.
